HOW TO REMOVE TOUGH TANNIN STAINS FROM FABRICS & CLOTHES

Tannin stains, often caused by beverages like coffee, tea, wine, or fruit juices, can be a bit tricky to remove. Here’s a step-by-step process to tackle these stains:

Step 1: Act quickly. The sooner you address the stain, the easier it is to remove.

Step 2: Blot the stain. Use a clean cloth or paper towel to gently blot the stain and absorb as much of the liquid as possible. Avoid rubbing, as it can spread the stain.

Step 3: Rinse with cold water. Run cold water through the back of the stained fabric to help push the stain out. This helps prevent the stain from setting.

Step 4: Treat the stain. Apply a stain remover or a mixture of liquid detergent and water directly onto the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes to penetrate the fabric.

Step 5: Launder the garment. Wash the clothing item as usual, following the care label instructions. Ensure the stain is completely gone before putting it in the dryer, as heat can set stains.

Step 6: Check before drying. If the stain persists after washing, don’t tumble dry the garment. Heat can set the stain, making it more difficult to remove. Repeat the treatment process before drying.

For tougher tannin stains, you might need to repeat these steps or consider using a specialized stain remover designed for tannin-based stains. Always follow the instructions on the product and test it on a small, inconspicuous area of the fabric before applying it to the stained area.
