Grease Be Gone: Taming the Toughest Kitchen Stains

Grease stains are common kitchen mishaps, but they don’t have to ruin your favorite clothes! Follow these steps to tackle those stubborn, oily stains:

  1. Blot the Stain: If the grease is fresh, use a paper towel or cloth to blot away as much of the oil as possible. Be careful not to rub, as this can spread the stain.

  2. Absorb the Oil: Sprinkle cornstarch, talcum powder, or baking soda onto the stain to absorb the grease. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Once the powder has absorbed the oil, brush it off with a soft brush or cloth.

  3. Dish Soap Magic: Apply a small amount of dish soap directly to the stain. Dish soap is formulated to cut through grease, making it perfect for this job. Gently rub the soap into the fabric with your fingers or a soft brush. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.

  4. Rinse with Warm Water: After letting the dish soap do its work, rinse the area with warm water to lift the grease out of the fabric.

  5. Laundry Time: Wash the garment in the hottest water safe for the fabric, according to the care label. Check to make sure the stain is gone before drying, as heat can set any remaining grease.

  6. Stubborn Stains: For more persistent stains, try applying a paste of baking soda and water to the area and let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing and washing.

With these simple steps, your clothes will be grease-free and ready to wear again!
