Soy Sauce Slip-Up: Salty Stain Solution

Soy sauce stains can be challenging due to their dark color and salt content, but these steps will help lift the stain effectively:

  1. Blot the Stain: Use a paper towel or cloth to blot up as much soy sauce as possible without rubbing, which could spread the stain.

  2. Cold Water Rinse: Rinse the stain from the back under cold running water to flush out as much of the sauce as possible. Cold water prevents the stain from setting.

  3. White Vinegar and Dish Soap Solution: Mix a tablespoon of white vinegar with a few drops of dish soap and apply it to the stain. Let it sit for 10 minutes; the vinegar lifts the dark pigment, while the dish soap cuts through any oils in the soy sauce.

  4. Baking Soda Paste for Stubborn Stains: For any remaining stain, apply a baking soda and water paste, gently scrubbing with a soft toothbrush. Baking soda’s abrasiveness helps remove any last bits of stain. Rinse well with cold water.

  5. Hydrogen Peroxide for Light Fabrics (Optional): For light-colored fabrics, apply a few drops of hydrogen peroxide directly to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes. Rinse thoroughly afterward.

  6. Pre-Treat with Laundry Detergent: Apply a small amount of liquid laundry detergent to the stained area, let it sit for another 10 minutes, then rinse well.

  7. Wash in Cold Water: Launder the garment in cold water to ensure the stain is gone before using any heat. Air-dry and check for any remaining marks.

These steps will help you tackle soy sauce stains and keep your fabrics looking fresh!
