Coffee Catastrophe: Brew No More Blues

Coffee spills can be a headache, but with these steps, you’ll erase those stains in no time:

  1. Blot, Don’t Rub: Gently blot the stain with a paper towel or cloth to soak up as much liquid as possible. Avoid rubbing, as this can spread the stain.

  2. Cold Water Rinse: Rinse the back of the stain with cold water to help push out as much coffee as possible. For fresh stains, this alone may lift most of the stain.

  3. Apply Baking Soda Paste: Make a paste with baking soda and water, apply it to the stain, and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. The baking soda helps lift the dark color. Rinse thoroughly with cold water.

  4. Vinegar and Dish Soap Solution: For tougher stains, mix a tablespoon of white vinegar with a few drops of dish soap, apply it to the stain, and let it sit for another 5-10 minutes. This combo works to cut through any residual coffee oils.

  5. Pre-Treat with Laundry Detergent: Rub a small amount of liquid laundry detergent into the stain, let it sit for 10 minutes, and rinse well with cold water.

  6. Wash in Cold Water: Launder in cold water as usual and air-dry, checking to ensure the stain is gone. Repeat as needed before applying heat, as heat can set any remaining mark.

With these steps, coffee stains will be a thing of the past!
