Grease Be Gone: Taming the Toughest Kitchen Stains

Grease stains can be tricky to remove, but these steps will help you tackle them like a pro:

  1. Blot the Grease: Use a paper towel to blot as much of the grease as possible. Avoid rubbing to prevent spreading the stain further.

  2. Sprinkle Baking Soda or Cornstarch: Apply a generous amount of baking soda or cornstarch over the stain to absorb the grease. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then brush off the powder.

  3. Dish Soap Treatment: Apply a few drops of liquid dish soap directly to the stain and gently work it in. Dish soap is designed to cut through grease, making it an excellent option for oily stains. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse with cold water.

  4. Vinegar Solution for Tough Spots: For stubborn grease stains, mix one part white vinegar with two parts water and dab the stain. This helps to lift the remaining oil. Rinse thoroughly with cold water.

  5. Pre-Treat with Laundry Detergent: Apply a small amount of liquid laundry detergent to the stained area, rub it in gently, and let it sit for another 10 minutes before rinsing.

  6. Wash in Cold Water: Launder as usual in cold water and air-dry. Check the stain before using any heat, as heat can set any remaining grease.

These steps will make even the toughest kitchen grease stains a thing of the past!
