Mustard Mayhem: Acid and Soap Save

Mustard stains are notoriously tricky due to turmeric’s bright yellow pigment, but this acid and soap trick can help get rid of them:

  1. Blot, Don’t Rub: Gently blot up any excess mustard with a paper towel. Avoid rubbing, which can push the stain deeper into the fabric.

  2. White Vinegar Dab: Dab the stain with white vinegar to neutralize the turmeric pigment. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water.

  3. Baking Soda Paste: Make a paste with baking soda and water, then apply it to the stain. Baking soda helps to lift the color and absorb any oils in the mustard. Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing.

  4. Dish Soap Application: Rub a small amount of dish soap into the stain, as it’s designed to break down oils. Let it sit for another 5 minutes, then rinse well.

  5. Cold Water Wash: Launder in cold water to keep the stain from setting. Check before drying to ensure the stain is gone, as heat can set any remaining yellow color.

With these steps, mustard stains can be handled quickly and effectively!
