Silk Savior: Removing Stubborn Oil and Grease Stains
1. Act Quickly
2. Sprinkle Cornstarch or Talcum Powder
- Sprinkle a generous amount of cornstarch, talcum powder, or baking soda onto the stain. These powders act as absorbents, pulling out the oil from the silk.
- Leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour, then gently brush it off with a soft cloth or brush.
3. Use a Mild Dish Soap Solution
- Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with lukewarm water. Test the solution on a small, hidden part of the saree first to ensure it doesn’t affect the color.
- Dampen a soft cloth with the soapy solution and gently blot the stain. Avoid soaking the silk, as it can weaken the fibers.
